Completed Fall 2024
For my Advanced GIS project, I wanted to assess the spatial relationship between the geographic distribution of short-term tourist housing (like Airbnbs) and indicators of urban inequality. These included indicators such as rising housing prices, increased income levels, and share of foreign ownership of property. Using datasets provided by the Ajuntament de Barcelona, I utilized some spatial statistical tests across these indicators, and also used network analysis to identify the extent to which short term tourist housing was concentrating around areas of tourism -- is the city being restructured to accommodate tourism?
